For your arrival: We generally recommend arriving without a car, as the island railway takes you directly from the ferry terminal to the center. From there, it's just a few steps from the train station to the Posthus. However, if you arrive by car, you are welcome to park your car in our courtyard on the day of arrival while you unload. The parking lot is private and is located in the rear courtyard of the Posthus. Please note that the city center (red zone) is closed to car traffic during the season. You will need to park your car in one of the large parking lots (e.g., the Am Langen Wasser parking lot) during your stay. On the day of departure, you are of course welcome to load your car in our courtyard. The courtyard is best reached via Westerstraße/Goethestraße. 1. As a health resort, Borkum has the following quiet hours: Midday quiet from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., night quiet from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
2. Please always lock your apartment door and carry your key with you. Please keep your keys safe. Losing a key from our locking system is very costly and must be borne by the person responsible.
3. Please dispose of garbage in the containers provided in the backyard.
4. Please dispose of glass waste in the glass recycling containers. These can be found, for example, at Goethestraße 27 or on Am langen Wasser.
5. Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the entire Posthus building (this also applies to e-cigarettes), meaning smoking is also prohibited in the hallways and near open windows. Violations of the smoking ban will automatically result in additional costs for special cleaning (see rental agreement) for the offender. Repeated violations of the smoking ban will result in immediate termination of the rental agreement WITHOUT any right to reimbursement.
6. Any form of open flame is prohibited, i.e., please do not use candles or similar devices.
7. The password for using the free Wi-Fi "Posthus Guest" is "great holidays!" (all characters must be entered exactly as they appear between quotation marks).
8. The apartment furnishings must be treated with care. The tenant is responsible for any damage or serious soiling; please inform us promptly by email (see below). Furthermore, it is not permitted to remove items such as towels, cutlery, dishes, etc. from the apartment - even temporarily.
9. Please absolutely avoid disposing of hygiene products (hygienic waste bins are provided) and damp household paper (e.g., Zewa rolls) down the toilet. Damp toilet paper may also not be disposed of down the toilet. Due to the structural conditions in the Posthus, this will immediately clog the toilet. We would have to charge you for any resulting removal costs.
10. Please make sure to close all windows when leaving the apartment; there are pigeons on Borkum looking for a home.
11. We do not charge a cleaning fee and therefore rely on your cooperation: On the day of your departure, we ask you to strip the beds, put the washed dishes away in the cupboard, dispose of the garbage in the container in the courtyard as usual, and leave the apartment in a clean and tidy condition. Please vacate the apartment by 10:00 a.m. on the day of departure at the latest and place all keys on the kitchen table.
